Fairwater UDIA Award 2017

Fairwater residential development has won the 2017 National Awards for Excellence for Residential Developments as announced at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards in Perth. The Fairwater project was the NSW entrant after winning the NSW Excellence in Residential Development at the 2016 UDIA NSW Awards for Excellence. Fairwater, a 950 lot master planned residential community developed by Frasers Property Australia, is located less than 1km from Blacktown in Western Sydney. As Project Managers, Craig & Rhodes, was responsible for the design development, survey and water management for all six stages of the Fairwater Estate development.

Fairwater is located on the former Ashlar Golf Course requiring Craig & Rhodes to manage significant stormwater inflows within the site and the rehabilitation of the existing western stormwater channel and Breakfast Creek in accordance with the requirements of the Office of Water and Blacktown City Council.

Craig & Rhodes, as the Project Engineers, was responsible for the design and delivery of all the civil and structural engineering aspects of the project including construction of over 3km of roadways, two bridges, six basins for bio-retention and wetlands including the integration of recreational parklands. Craig & Rhodes was also the Registered Land Surveyors for the subdivision consisting Torrens, Community and Strata Title lots. Survey data was collected using GPS and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to calculate and provide regular updates of earthwork volumes that provided tremendous value for the client over traditional surveying methods.

"My role as Project Manager is to manage, on behalf of Frasers Property, the many facets of the development that Craig & Rhodes is responsible for such as Civil and Structural design, Water & Sewer infrastructure, Town Planning and Land Surveying. We were successful in meeting the program delivery expectations and that all subdivision and housing requirements meet specifications set by Frasers Property and Blacktown City Council", according to Craig & Rhodes Project Manager Frank Carrozza.
